A.S.Yakovlev got the production base in 1934. It was a small factory with beds
as the main product converted to an experimental aviation plant.
Department of Light Aircrafts was created in GUAP (Head Agency of Aviation
Industry) under the supervision of A.S.Yakovlev. The main idea of Yakovlev was
to teach pilots on the fast monoplans just after the primary training on U-2.
U-2 was the basic trainer for a long time just because the main combat
aircraft R-5, I-5, and I-15 were all biplanes. But the idea was accepted and
Yakovlev began the job.
